Tikona Fort is one of the nearest fort-trek options from Pune and from Mumbai. This fort is also known as Vitandgad. Tikona fort is a triangular shaped mountain fort and hence has earned the nickname of ‘Pyramid’. Once atop you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the forts of Lohagad, Tung, Visapur and Pawna Lake. The fort also houses several Buddhist and Satavahana Caves, and a small yet elegant Trimbakeshwar Mahadev temple.

The trail begins from Tikona Peth village and gradually ascends through scenic countryside, rocky sections, ancient pathways, and fortification remains. The massive entrance gate of the fort remains one of its most impressive architectural features and offers a glimpse into the fort's glorious past.

It is one of the shortest and easiest treks in the Sahayadris which makes it doable for all age groups with moderate level of fitness. Located at an altitude of about 3500 feet, you can reach the top easily in about an hour at a moderate pace from the base village of Tikona Peth which is at a distance of about 35 kms from Lonavala.
